ConSensus®: Pulse counter calibration

Introduction:

Flow- and quantitymeters, such as gasmeters, fuelmeters and electricitymeters, are calibrated by comparing their yield with the yield of a high-precision "standard" meter. To automate this calibration process, most meters are equipped with a pulse output or a black&white optical disk for an external optical detector.

The ConSensus® Pulse Counter Calibration system consists of hardware and software that automates the calibration process of e.g. flow meters. It interfaces to the pulse meters and sensors through specially designed intelligent DIN-rail modules and controls the fan and valves through 20mA outputs. All calibration data is stored in protected files, and exported to MsExcel through a fully flexible and programmable reporting interface.

How does it work:

  • Hardware interfaces:
    • ConSensus CPC pulse counter modules count pulses from various meters such as rotary, turbine, provers and meters with just an optical disc. The interfaces can be programmed to suit many interfaces (Namur, optical disk, switch etc). The modules start and stop synchronously, while acurately measuring the duration of a number of full pulses through a common clock to eliminate timing differences.

    • ConSensus CMA multi-analog interface modules read analog 0..20mA sensors, Pt-100 temperature sensors, and output 4..20mA signals to the fan, motor or valve to set various flows during calibration.

  • PC control program:
    • Starts and stops the calibration runs.
    • Automated runs at various output levels.
    • Auto-repeat function.
    • Measurement values are visible in real-time.
    • Pressure/temperature compensation according to the ideal gas law (Boyle Gay-Lussac).
    • Polynomial correction of the standard meters.
    • Background images, values and graphs can be freely choosen.
    • Tamper free storage of all measurements and calibration data.
    • Easy export to MsExcel.
    • Restricted access to certain functions through a user/password system.

  • Excel interface:
    • Use your own Excel template, with logo's and texts, and have all calibration data inserted into this template.
    • Easy selection of columns to be exported.
    • Even simple formulas can automatically be inserted into the columns.
    • Export of entire measurement graphs with 0.1 sec resolution. Easy selection of exported graphs.
